L.S. Thorne arrived in Texas in 1872 and became a railroad pioneer, rising to Third Vice President and General Manager of the Texas & Pacific Railroad. He relocated the T&P headquarters to Dallas in 1886 and retired in 1911 after a remarkable career shaping the railroads of the American South.
His personal artifacts, correspondence, and achievements are preserved in the Cultured Holdings Digital Museum — offering a rare private look into the life of a Railroad Magnate from the 1800s.
